There is a cost free remedy you can use if your hard drive will not boot up, or when you have a BLACK SCREEN. This radical resetting of the computer is called a system recovery (not a system restore) This will put your computer back to factory settings but you will lose any files on your Hard Drive like pictures, music and word documents. THIS IS HOW IT WORKS :Some older computers and ALL Toshiba laptops come with a system restore disk. Simply place the disk in the CD tray and hit ENTER, if that does not work, power the computer off and on with the disk in the tray, wait for the special system recovery screen to appear, (be patient) If you were not issued with a disk, then the following is for you.Each computer manufacturer has a special key you have to hit WHEN YOU POWER ON the computer. Some of the older computers may ask you for the restore disks so have those ready. Most newer computers do not need restore discs. The whole system restore could take 2 or 3 hours.
